Given: 120/240 volt, 3 phase, open delta consisting of a 10 kva transformer and a 15 kva transformer with a center tap.

Is it ok to put 240 volt single phase loads on the open side of the delta?

Thanks,

Jon

Re: Open Delta Transformer

I believe it's OK. Some other guys I've asked weren't sure if it is OK but they couldn't explain why it wouldn't be. So I just needed some reassurance.

On the panelboards being supplied, there aren't any 2-pole circuit breakers on the open side of the delta. All of them are on A-B. None on A-C or B-C. In this case, C is designated as the high leg. Could be the previous electrician wasn't famiar with the open delta system and just avoided using phase C.
