Do it yourselfer is what I am. I am trying to wire a new three prong outlet. If I had the dough I would hire a pro but I don't. I am pretty tech inclined. (computer tech). I have been successful wiring these outlets before I guess. Basically my troubleshooting consists of hooking up receptacle tester. Up till now I have always got the suspect "wired correctly light sequence", but on this last outlet I keep getting "open ground" when I put the ground wire on the side terminals and "open neutral" when I attach the ground wire to the green ground screw on the outlet. Can someone explain what these terms mean and maybe offer me some guidance?

Thanks

I think it would be irresponsible of me to answer your question. Please take a moment and read this, which can be found on this site.
