Open Splice Junction Box

New product from Rack-a-Tiers. It has breakaway knockouts on the sides near the top. I saw these at the supply house today. $8 a piece.... I don't usually go for gimmicks, but I do this kind of repair often enough that I see the value. I bought 6

They have been around for a while. I have not done "repair" work in many years but usually when you find an open splice there are many other things wrong.

If the installer didn't use a box did they actually make the splices correctly?

If there is an issue down the road they are going to go after whomever touch the circuit last.

Well, it's not like I would just put this on without checking the connection. It isn't standard practice to rewire a house every time something needs a repair. I don't really worry too much about what else might be wrong outside of what I'm hired to correct.
