There is a code(I thought) that said you could have a non-isolated ground receptacle in an OR room for emergency purposes incase the isolation panel fails as long as it is labeled 'for emergency purposes only'. Please help it'll be appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

The only thing I see in 517 is that you can have other recpticales in that room for xray equipmetn but they cannot interchange with the the isolated panel reptacles.

Re: Operating room receptacles.........

Since you need critical and normal power in an OR, wouldn't you have two isolation supplies? It seems like it would be a rare occurance for the isolation panel to fail at the same time a power outage occurs.

typically no there is not both normal and emergency in the OR just a source probably fed from the Critical branch of the essential system

Re: Operating room receptacles.........

Caj, In NC there must be both Normal and Critical Isolated systems, this is per NEC 517.19(A) and the definition of "Patient Bed Location"
or the bed or procedure table in a critical care area.

Re: Operating room receptacles.........

The hospital said that it was required at the time and I 'thought I looked it up. Now I can't find where I read it and I've looked in NFPA 99, AIA Healthcare, NEC, Boca and IEEE...so I think I'm losing it and I never read it, but I'd swear I did.

Thanks for the info guys
