Opinion of fluke meters

I own, and use the T1000 and it works just fine for everyday testing. as long as you follow the directions for taking current readings, you will get accurate readings. If I want a definate, precise measurement, then I turn to the 87V

I have a T5-1000 also and it is in my daily use tool bag.

I like it lot, it has been durable and while not cheap it is much less then the Fluke 87 DMM or a Fluke 36 Clamp Meter which I have in the truck. The fact that it is less money means I don't worry about having it out every day in my tool bag.
 
I ordered one of these a year or two ago, tried it a couple times, and haven't used it since. I thought the open jaw design would be wonderful. I think it takes more room than a clamp on.
I suppose it depends on what you're doing, but I didn't care for it.

At the same time I also ordered a solenoid tester. One or both of these meters had a big fat set of leads , that trying to use them was about like trying to stick your elbow in your ear.

I don't think anyone ever uses either one of them unless everything else is taken.

I'm with Bob on this one.
I keep my T5 in my bag. I like it and use it almost daily. There are limitations to it's usefulness, (only 1k Ohm resistance) which means that once in a while when working with controls or sensors I have to go to the truck and get a better meter, but for everyday use I like the T5.
 
Fluke, for me is a local company. My favorite and tool bag meter is a T+Pro, as it vibrates, lights up and buzzes, does continunity, and phase rotation (with two leads!).
 
I have the T5-1000 as well and love it. Just FYI, it isn't RMS. The leads are detachable to accept other attachments. No backlight though:cool:
