optional standby generator

When you have an optional standby generator installed outdoors, some require a seperate branch circuit for the battery tender and crankcase heater. Would it be most normal (or even required) that the branch circuit for this extra generator related equipment originate from the same panel that the generator will serve? or may this circuit originate from any panel?

This application is on a dairy farm, in which the "emergency panel" (not legally required) is not the most convenient panel to grab a branch circuit from to supply the battery tender and crankcase heater.

I've always seen them fed from the generator panel, as its typically fairly close to the generator.

The sole intent for this cicuit is to charge the battery. You would usually pull it with the feeder wires out to the genset. But you can pick this circuit up from any source.
