So after 18 years of twisting wires my wrist is starting to give me problems.Anyone have a glove or strap they recommend to help ?

Use a wrist brace. I used one my mother got from her doctor after carpal tunnel surgery. Wrist quit hurting after awhile but flares up now and again. Wore out the brace. Haven't been able to find an exact replacement. Got one thru Amazon but it didn't immobilize my wrist (near as much). You definitely want one with a splint, the wider the better.

I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel a few months back. The Dr. wrote me a script for a wrist strap. I don't work in it but use it when sleeping or when not using my wrist much.
You could use it to work in but would be cumbersome, and probably wear out soon.

This required a prescription so I don't know if you can get them without one.

The prescription was probably so it would be covered by insurance. I don't believe that braces and such are only available by prescription.

I'm no doctor and you haven't talked to one you should. This is what worked for me and is a combination of talking to the doctor, the physical therapist, chiropractor, and neighbour who is a rock climber.

Wrist brace, put it on at night. Ibuprofen, every morning and at lunch till you get ahead of this.

Stretches, arm out in front fingers pointed to the sky, push on a wall or grab with your other hand and gently stretch, fingers pointed down same thing. Arm out to the side, same thing again, gently.

Then, (this one is a little harder to describe but I'll give it a go) lay your hand on your chest like you are saying the pledge of allegiance, roll your hand till your pinky is on your chest and your thumb is pointing away from you, with your opposite hand grab the palm of the hand you have on your chest and rotate on around so you pull your hand kinda flat and some of your knuckles will be touching your chest.

I don't think it is recommended to wear the brace while using your hand to do much for activity. Using your hand with the brace on can actually make you put more strain on the ligaments that constrict the median nerve and you would have been better off not wearing the brace at all on those occasions.

The brace is for positioning the wrist properly so there is less pressure on the median nerve at times when you are inactive.

I don't work in it but specifically asked if I could/should. He told me I could but might be difficult if handling small things and getting it hung up on things.

I saw right off that just using the computer wasn't easy so I just wear it when I'm asleep or not using the hand for anything.

The old "Doc, it hurts when I do that", "Then don't do that" joke is actually pretty spot on for tendonitis. Every time you move in a way that gives you a jolt of pain, you are to some degree reinjuring yourself and delaying your recovery.

I have CTS in both wrists but only feel the numbness when sleeping (slow blood circulation.) If you feel numbness in the thumb and the next two fingers (other 2 not affected) when hand is not active chances are you have CTS. I wear this brace at night only. Made of stiff plastic and foam rubber. Make sure the fit is tight to be effective.

Looks just like the one I wear at night.
I just thought I was sleeping wrong, causing my arm/hand to go to sleep. Then I noticed it when driving, well in the arm that I steer with.
I mentioned it to my Dr and he had me tested for CTS. The guy that tested me said if you look in the book for CTS your picture would be there!:happyyes: Textbook case!
