OUT Of SCHOOL AND NEED HELP

I have been out of school for about a 2 years, and I feel like I am getting weak with my understanding of theory. What books or websites would you recommend to refresh my memory? I am trying to study for my Journeymans exam on my own and I am a little lost.

Well this website is a good start.

Go to the home page and check out the on line training materials and exams.

Tom Henry and James Stallcup have excellent material as well.

There are more but these are the ones I recommend to my employees simply because I've become familiar with them over the years.

Monkey I will say this.... I passed my J man first time with Mike. I have never failed to get credible, polite, and genuinely helpful information here at the forum. Believe in your self, be diligent in your studies and pay attention in the field....when in doubt draw on the wealth that these guys here at the forum have to offer....good luck

Good advice Rampy.
Back when I took my test - before the explosion of the internet - the best you could do was ask/beg someone who had a clue what you should do, what authors were a "good read", etc...assumming you could find someone willing to "help".

IMHO, I like:
Mike Holt's "stuff" - lot's of pictures for technically challanged folks like me

Do Mike Holt's 2005 NEC Code Changes with the DVD, the advantage is that it will put you in the middle of current thought for this code cycle with all the little nuances touched upon. It's thorough...4 1/2 hours of DVD time, plus workbook and CEU's for licensure.

Right here you can start on this link.

Whn you enter this website, scroll down on the left side to miscellaneous, hundreds of articles to assist.

And if you have the time, check your local junior college for NEC classes. The junior classes near my home offer NEC classes and they are worth the time and money attending.
