Outdoor conduit

I am running 2 low voltage lighting 14GA conductor and one 18GA 7 conductor multistrand cable intended for sprinkler valves in an underground conduit. Does code allow for these two functions in one conduit? The 14GA is rated to 600V and the 18GA is rated for 30V.

Thanks
Sandra

Re: Outdoor conduit

If both sets of conductors are supplied by a Class 2 supply, the answer is yes.

"725.56 Installation of Conductors of Different Circuits in the Same Cable, Enclosure, or Raceway.
(A) Two or More Class 2 Circuits. Conductors of two or more Class 2 circuits shall be permitted within the same cable, enclosure, or raceway."

Re: Outdoor conduit

If your low voltage lighting is limited to 24 volts and the power source complies with table 11(A) in Chapter 9. 5 amps at 12 volts seems to be rather reasonable for #14 wire considering that low voltage lighting will have terrible voltage drop efficiency in return for installation ease and safety considerations.

But, LOL, barehanding 24 volts in the rain down have a bit of a sting to it. This comes from troubleshooting and repairing 2 air conditioners with the 24 volts on and the 120Y208 volts 3-phase off.
