Re: Outdoor fan box

There are a few wet location ceiling boxes on the market, however I don not know the manufacturer or models right off hand.

You may still need to do some weather-proofing of your own to ensure a complete seal.

Are you actually installing a fan that will be subject to rain infiltration, or is this just a wet/damp location?

Re: Outdoor fan box

Its a pergola(terrace with slat runners on the roof mounted on 2x6 rafters with a couple of inches of open air space between each). So it's in a wet location

For now I put up a FS round weathertite box and a round gasket. But the supporting screws are 8/32 and the fan boxex are #10 screws.

I know this arrangement is not approved for a fan installation, but would be?

Re: Outdoor fan box

Is the fan rated for this? Can't say I have ever seen one that would be. As for the box as you describe it, no way is this legal. What you have to do is use screws that go through the box and directly into the building structure.
