NEC 2008 Article 680.50(E) fountains I have an outdoor fountain that uses a submersible pump. My understanding of the NEC is that the cord that feeds this pump can be no longer than 10'. Is this correct? 680.50(D) also states that there needs to be a low-water cutoff. Would a float switch suffice? And does this cord need an equipment ground? Also are there any limitations on where the wiring can be brought into the fountain. In this case the wiring is pulled through a PVC sleeve above the water then enters the fountain. Does this meet the intentions of the NEC?
