Outdoor Generator Disconnecting means

If I have a generator located outside and the driving means for the generator can easily be shutdown and the generator is not arranged to operate in parallel with another generator or other source of voltage:

Can I rely on my manual transfer switch (located inside) to be my lockable disconnecting means per 445.18? And if so does it require the trnasfer switch to be service rated even though it is located down stream of the main service fusable disconnect?

445.18 doesn't say "easily" it says "readily shut down". How do plan on complying with the readily part? As Don mentioned you still must comply with 702.12 with a disconnect that is covered under 225.36. Read the last part of 702.12.
