What is the receptacle spacing requirements for cord connected outdoor hot tub or spa?

Spa comes with integral 15ft 3 wire 120v gfi cord installed.

Does receptacle need to be more than 10ft per 680.22 (A) (1)
or can it be 5 feet away form water without being twist lock?

Dedicated 20Amp gfi breaker, not insight of tub.

Can cord be used as disconnecting means?

I would say it needs be no closer than 5 feet, Insight not required being it is residential. GFI for receptacle because someone might unplug it for something else. Many of the new hot tubs need 240 at 50 amps so be sure to check. Best to read all of 680 severall times if your doing pools and tubs. Lot of new stuff since i did my first 20 years ago.

You must be using the '05 code. I would say 5' based on art. 680.43(A)(1)

That section is for Indoor Installations, this one is outside.

2005 NEC 680.22 (A) (1)

not les than 10 feet for circulation system related receptacles or 5 ft if twist lock GFI protected.

and (2)
other receptacles not less than 10 feet

(3) manditory receptacle required on the deweling unit 12 or 20 amp 125V between 10 and 20 feet ,not more than 6-1/2 feet high.

(5) All 15 & 20 amp 125v receptacle within 20 ft must be GFI protected.
(this is also required per 210.8(A)(3)

680.12 say maintenance disconnecting means must be within sight but not less than 5 ft.

I have installed about 40 hardwired units in LA city and LA county Jurisdictions. Disconnect required to be insight of unit for residential as well. In WA state inspector has required disconnect within sight or lockout on breaker for residential as well. NEC 2005 680.12 Maintenance disconnect means.

My thinking is if i unplug it and have the end of cord in site that i meet the code. I could be wrong
