I have a campground that during the annual walk through I came across what I think is improper wiring of the lights for illuminating the roadway and area. From my understanding all components must be rain tight and in a raceway. The power source are the overhead lines going to the sepearate cabins-wire nutted pig-tailed to the uninsulated lines.

I have searched the code but am not find what i think I am looking for. Any help would be appreciated.

30 years ago I was a maintenance supervisor at a 130 acre camp. We had a lot of overhead wiring on trees.
Wiring can be run overhead and does not have to be in raceways.
Need some more information:
What type of wiring method?
"the uninsulated lines. " do you mean bare wires...?

A year or so ago or maybe it was a little longer I did some parking lot lights that were fed underground. Came up the side of the pole with PVC 10' installed a weatherhead and open joints to the light. Next time I go by there I will get some pictures.

I know that the fittings will not do since I found one that was sealed with ???? some goop. From my understanding this all need to be raintight. Am i missing something?

Not too happy with this newsgroup software. Every time I go back to look at the pictures it throws away the reply in progress....

I'd look at the cable. There's no way to know what's being used without reading the jacket, but it looks like NM or UF. It's probably not approved for outdoor installation in wet locations. The wire nuts also would need to be suitable for wet locations.

As for overhead wiring on trees, look at 225.26. I've had several interesting conversations with camp owners who thought using trees to support cables was an acceptable practice.

To start your reply, try right-clicking on the "POST REPLY" button and then selecting the "Open Link in New Window" option from the pop up menu. That way, you will have one window with the reply in progress and another for viewing the thread and/or pictures. You can switch back and forth between the windows without loosing your reply in progress.
