My wife spoke with a neighbor yesterday. The neighbor said she was told by an electrician that her panel needed to be replaced (for reasons I don’t know). More to my point, she was also told that it had to be relocated, as such things are no longer allowed to be mounted external to the building. Anyone heard of that rule? My thoughts are that if it is properly rated for the environment, nothing would disallow it. Before I walk over to speak with the neighbor, and perhaps take a look at the existing panel, I wanted to seek your opinions. My role will be nothing more than to answer her questions.
This is in Seattle, which has its own electrical code. I could find nothing relevant in that code.
