Sorry to be off topic. Any suggestions on line voltage outdoor steplights (Recessed)? We paln to install the housing in wood.

Shoot for Stainless Steal finish composite housing, if you like the customer - if you don't plan on seeing them after the warantee - die cast AL. Down the liNe someone is going to have to change a lamp... The AL will rot solid....

(Spelling not my forte... Typing either.,...)

Wood is a good thermal insulator so you may want to ask the manufacturer if you need to go with smaller bulbs; he might be counting on free air heat dissipation.

I checked progress earlier today, but didn't see any rated for wet locations?
I guess you didn't check right. The outdoor one's might be called "brick boxes", maybe. Small matter. Sounds like you have a few other leads.

I've used this company for (CHeap!) landscape lighting - they have a min order and often no returns but most of the stuff I have gotten from them has been of decent quality - for landscape lighting....

I have also used these... Composite body (which may be better in wood IMO) and stainless or brass cover - well made (Pricey) they're 12v but easy to remote a transformer someplace....

I have used these in the past, but I have no comparison information. They have held up well so far. They are inside, and never had a lamp life problem. They were pretty reasonable from what I remember, and they stock em around here.

No, but I do care about getting the best price for my customer.
Then quit deciding what you think is expensive, unless you know what their budget is. That's short changing your boss. You've only been at this a few years now anyhow, so it's not like you've got much to compare prices to.

I recently priced out some spot fixtures a customer described, and they were almost 500 bucks each. I thought that was expensive, but the customer didn't bat an eye. Let them decide. Shop for quality material first, and price second.

Haha, no, they just poly'd the stairs, and they were just keeping my muddy boots off em. :D

twenty some years ago we renovated a building in dc that had a beautiful brass staircase, and boxes were built into the back of the steps with stained glass covers in the risers. only a couple of the stained glass were intact, but you could tell they would have been awesome steps. I was told that they used to put candles behind them in the boxes. Anyway, that's what I always envision when someone mentions these type of lights (as opposed to the crap that ends up getting installed)
