Can I use a standard tamper proof switch outdoors if I use a bubble cover ? Is that code approved ?

Switches are not tamper proof, only receptacles. It also depends on the switch switch location. Is it in a damp location under a porch or just on a wall somewhere on the exterior that would be considered a wet location.

There are no tamper proof receptacles, only tamper resistant.

If you are talking about a keyed switch then you don't need a bubble cover.

I like the toggle type outdoor switch cover. Much easier to use than a bubble cover.
