Canopy has 3 walls and a roof, open front (industrial setting). They supplied us two red dot boxes as expected. But then regular cover for gfci outlet(plastic). And just a metal cover for the switch no gasket.

Am I right for thinking in such location devices would need to be weather resistant but not weather proof. So would need covers with gaskets and keeps devices covered while not in use. Example below.

They would need to be rated for damp locations like the one shown in your photo not wet location rated like the bubble style covers.

Take a look at 406.9(A).
Was actually just doing so as I checked my phone lol. Had plans on digging in tonight and researching, but figured I’d go ahead and ask as well.

Forgot to mention they did also get the correct WR GFCI but just not the cover.

Around here, they use a 45-degree angle to determine whether (no pun intended) a device under cover needs rain protection.

I’m assuming you mean the 45degree angle is to the roof? Or am I completely missing it lol
45 degrees for rainfall. For example, if a receptacle is seven feet below a roof edge, it's considered protected from the rain as ling as it's more than seven feet horizontally from that edge.

Another way of looking at it is that a device closer than that 45-degree angle from a roof edge must be weather-proof in use.

Gotcha. That could be the case.

Actually that cover is rated wet location with cover closed however it can't be used that way as far as I know
