We are designing a classroom remodel, with a univent (HVAC equipment) centered on the exterior wall. The exterior wall does not have any existing outlets and there is a request for an outlet to be added at the univent. Specifically, the only part of the unit that might work to put it in is the removable metal univent cover used to access the equipment for maintenance. I looked at 406.5 Receptacle Mounting and cannot find anything that prohibits an outlet from being recessed into a removable panel. So long as the box can be secured to the panel, and you include a long enough whip to allow for panel removal and safe maintenance of equipment behind it...I think it is legal. Am I missing something that prohibits this, or another angle I need to consider?
For the purposes of this conversation let's assume there is nothing in the univent literature that prohibits this. We'll have to check that next.
Thanks in advance!
