Hey everyone!

I’m reading outlets in a garage have a max height of 5’6”.

Is that referring to the minimum required outlets per bay or is that for all outlets?

Id like to mount some outlets higher. Say for a wall mounted tv or a neon sign or a wall mounted fan etc.

Where are you reading that? Garage door opener receptacles are installed on the garage ceiling.

Welcome to the forum. :)
Thanks man. Just about any search or forum says 5.5 ft max “wall” height. A video I watched pointed out that is specially a wall height limit. Meaning not the ceiling. So light and door opener receptacles in the ceiling wouldn’t count. I’m just trying to pass inspection without any problems

As long as you have the required receptacles at the required height, you can have as many un-required receptacles as you want at any height that you want. Just make sure that they are GFCI protected if they are in the garage.

Thanks man plain and simple wording is what I needed haha.

The GFCI will have to be readily accessible. So if you have to use a ladder to reset it, then it's not readily accessible. You would do it like for the door opener, put a GFCI down low and feed the higher receptacle.

I’m planning on coming right outta the panel into a gfci outlet for each circuit(there won’t be many). Then running out to the rest of the outlets from there. So anything tripped breakers and/or gfcis will all be centrally located at the panel
