Outside GFCI receptacles at convenience store

Are receptacles for outdoor ice storage boxes at a convenience store required to be GFCI protected? I have searched and found different opinions so I thought I would get more professional opinions.

It's the receptacle that is required to be GFCI-protected, not the intended load, so yes.
