Outside Lights need octogon Boxes

We are installing outside lights, rectangular looking..16/24 inches. The argument is can you run BX out and then they build the drywall and brick finish around the BX /Armoured cable , or do you need to put an octogon box there for the light to atache to . The light has holes at the top and bottom to screw it to the building.

You must terminate the bx in a box.

Also, the luminaire would have to be labeled if it does not require a box for support/installaton.

Some luminaires do not require a box, such as pan type flourescents.
