Outside outlets

Customer is closing in half of the carport. They also want an outlet in the carport. I was just going to tap off the new outlet circuit I'm installing in the new room for the carpet outlet. I can't find anywhere in the code that says I cannot do that - am I correct? Of course I would use a gfi outlet. Thank you

Unless the new room is a kitchen (or areas of a kitchen such as dining room), bath, or laundry, you're good to go.

Yep... as long as you're not tapping into a dedicated circuit like an SABC, bath, laundry etc., you're good to go. WR GFCI and in-use cover and you're golden.

Well actually it is a laundry room. I have the washer outlet and (3) outlets and the outside outlet. I have always put the washer by it self but I guess I can put the washer on with the three other outlets and a dedicated line for the outside outlet ? Or a dedicated line for the washer and put the three outlts with the outside outlet?

It's not a washer outlet, it's a 20A circuit supplying the laundry area.

To avoid any arguement I would use the dedicated circuit for the washer.
