In a new home, I intend to run an NM-B feeder and switch leg ending in a surface mounted jbox for future use.
Box will be installed on the outside wall of a residence, not near the future pool.
I intend to install to the chapter 3 standard including using 14 NM-B for the pool light switch. Pool people can extend from my box to equipment as they see fit.

2017 NEC 680.14(a) states "areas" with pool pumps and such as corrosive.

Has anyone had, or do any AHJs interpret outside open air next to a pool pump as a "corrosive environment"?
If they do, my install would not be compliant.

Thanks!!

680.14 Corrosive Environment.
(A) General. Areas where pool sanitation chemicals are
stored, as well as areas with circulation pumps, ...
shall be considered to be a corrosive environment.

It seems to me the code is pretty clear. If the box is in an area where there is a circulation pump, it qualifies. Now just what constitutes the "area" is something else. How far away the pump has to be so the box is not in the area is not specified.

Thank you. Bluntly put, what constitutes the "area" is exactly my question.
I could not see how a pump that is basicly sealed and is placed outside could be an issue but clearly there is room for opinion here.
