Guys, we have been running into issues with outside, wall mounted, tankless gas water heaters tripping the GFI breaker. The unit is hard wired with a switch for the disconnect requirement. the unit works fine on a standard breaker. The question is being this is a mounted stationary appliance/equipment do we need to have it on a GFI protected circuit? Has anyone else run into this issue with any brands of outside tankless gas water heaters?

Let me know.

Thanks

Nothing requires a GFCI if it is hard wired. With a cord and plug connected unit having an outdoor receptacle is what will require GFCI, not the water heater itself.
