On wall oven whips there’s often some factory black cloth tape wrapped at the end of the FMC & onto the wires.
I’ve always removed the tape and installed a screw in flex conn. But I've also seen it where tape was left in place and they used a clamp on FMC conn over the tape.
What’s the correct ‘etiquette’ here?

As long as there's no choke effect then 'stock' it is, but I can't stand not knowing how someone cut the flex under that tape if I'm responsible.
I wonder if it's their idea of a strain relief so installers don't accidentally tug on factory terminal connections?

I figured it had to something with the wires not getting pulled back into the appliance during shipping. I pull the tape and use a screw in connector.
