Most of us actually had some training on the NEC beyond just reading it. It usually included some explanation as to the reason behind at least some of the rules and more, so that one could be better equipped to apply things; and training on the structure and format of the NEC. Many of us also benefit from the amount of free material, such as articles and videos, authored by known experts on the NEC. However, when it comes to the NEC rules for over 1KV, things seem to differ. There isn't as much free content. Additionally, much of the world of above 1KV installations are utility installations falling under NESC. This means that many with experience in it are not familiar with the NEC at all. A number of professionals may work for one utility, only installing to that utility's standards, which may be so well documented as not to require working knowledge of the relevant standard for their work (NESC) at all. Or others may be more accustomed to heavily relying on engineered drawings and details.
There isn't s much of a rich amount of content available on NEC requirements for over 1KV, and it seems that deficiency is whether one is looking for free or paid content. Is anyone aware of any good classes on NEC requirements for over 1KV?
