I'm not.

Idealy moderators have tha same role as judges do. Impartial, they do not let their own personal opinions and convictions interefere with the rules they supposed to uphold - not that I did not use the word 'enforce' -, be consistent and not involved in the process emotionally. Nor does the appointment to such position imbue them with special knowledge about the technical aspect of the subject.

On the other hand IMNSHO the role fo the forum is too narrowly defined.

There are a few issues that it seems like you can't discuss without it getting out of control. Avoiding those issues makes it possible for people who don't agree on everything to not have flame wars.
