I visited a friend over the weekend. He has an over the ground pool. The installer ran exposed -lying on the ground - romex 12/3 from the motor to a timer and from the timer to a GFIC receptacle in the kitchen (???) Then I notice from the motor an AWG 10 bare to a grounding rod buried next to the motor. I didn't check anything and I only took visual account, he's a very short fused and hard head individual and I didn't want to "spoil the party". Besides the romex, I don't think the rod is connected to the main electrode system - been far away from the main panel, does this rod needs to be connect to the electrode system?. I am planning to talk to him about. I don't see how a 12/3 is connected to a GFIC receptacle in the kitchen branch circuit. I would like opinions from the forum, he's "I know it all" and I want to show him professional opinions, he thinks I am full of BS. Of course thanks and hi to everyone.
