Good morning to all.
Have 10kw electric furnace motor is 1.75amps which needs 55amp after doing calculations including motor the furnace has 60amp breaker in it can
Use a 55amp breaker at panel

will I be code compliant

the rating of the breaker in the furnace has no bearing on the rating of the feeder breaker.

I think the answer to your question will be found in 215.3.

By the way, where would you be able to get a 55 Amp rated breaker.

Does the specification provide MCA & MOCP? 55A is not a standard ampere rating according to 240.6, but that is not saying such a breaker doesn't exist. Why go through the trouble with guessing when you can copy the same size as the factory supplied. They have a 60A on their for a reason.
