Overcurrent Protection for Small Motors

Hello,
How to size O.C device for small motors such as 1/8HP, 1/20HP etc.? I don't see manufacturer's recommended sizing on these motors.

Motors that small will have their own thermal or impedance protection built in so there is no need for external OC.

+ the GFSC protection on the small motors is normally the branch circuit breaker (See 430.53)

If you see the Thermally Protected on the nameplate the installation became very simple, just need GFSC and a disconnect
