Hi...we are designing a temporary power feed to a construction trailer with a 575V feed to a 575-240/120V transformer, all outdoors. According to 240.21(C), a set of conductors shall be permitted to be connected to the transformer secondary without overcurrent protection outdoors per 240.21(C)(4). Our design easily meets (1), (2), and (4) of this particular section. My question is about (3). Our plan is to install the transformer outside the trailer with a non-fused disconnect switch on the secondary within 5 feet, then wire into the trailer to terminate on the line side of the panel's main breaker. The distance from the transformer to the main breaker (secondary protection) is a bit more than 25 feet. According to (3) of that NEC section for outdoor secondary conductors, "the overcurrent device...shall be located immediately adjacent (to the disconnecting means)". How close is "immediately adjacent"? Does our design meet that requirement with the main breaker in the panel? Thanks.
