I have an existing condition where we need to provide power to an existing fuel dispenser behind a fire station. The fire department uses the fuel dispenser to fill up the fire truck. Currently the feed to the fuel dispenser runs underground but the conduit is very corroded after we trenched. We are locating a new disconnect switch to meet current code requirements where you need the disconnect to be at least 20 feet away from the fuel dispenser. The County guys want to run a new branch circuit from the fire station to a pole that is away from the fuel dispenser. The existing fuel dispenser is connected to a 1P20A breaker in an existing panel inside the fire station. The fuel dispenser would be located in the path of the new overhead line. I was reading article 514 but couldn't find anything where you couldn't run an overhead line to feed the fuel dispenser. Is that allowable per code and if so, does the overhead line have to be located a certain distance away from the fuel dispenser? Thanks.
