Overhead feeder with welder

We have an 480 volt ungrounded delta overhead feeder with a process spot welder and various other pieces of equipment on a piece low voltage switchgear. This is wired with 4/0 cable the gear is set up for long time trip at 400amp. When the spot welder is welding for brief 1 second intervals the current jumps to about 600amps. This is well above the rating of this wire is there any code provision that makes using this wire compliant at this rating. I cannot think of any.

Art. 630 is all about welders. It allows for conductors and breakers to be used outside of what is normally seen.
