I am inspecting a remodeled residence & would like to know the recommended minimum clearance (lateral) which should be maintained between chimney stacks above a roof line and overhead service above a roof line. Thanks
Re: Overhead residential service adjacent to chimney
Assuming the NESC covers this installation since most electric utilities install the service drops, the NESC rule is as follows.
Rule 234C3c which covers Supply Conductors Attached to Buildings or Other Installations. states, "Wires or cables attached to and run along side the installation shall have clearances from the surface of the installation not less than 75 mm (3 in)."
