I have two outbuildings that just need a branch circuit run to them. They are adjacent to a larger building (which has the power), and there is about 24" between the out buildings and the larger building. I'm getting all twisted in the code going between messenger supported methods, article 225, and UF/SE cable methods.

Since the run is short, it appears I can run a segment of UF cable in the air between the buildings as long as the distance is 30" or less and the cable is secured to each building (and I meet a bunch of other rules -- #10 or larger, 10' up in the air or higher, drip loop, ...).

Is this right? I'd rather not mess with messengers or masts. Is an up in the air raceway from building to building an option too? Don't think I've ever seen that, but not sure if I see a prohibition on that either.

Around here we always use rigid or IMC for something like that. If you don't, snow and ice falling from roof will mess up just about anything else.
