Overload protection for 120V motor

I couldn't post on existing post - Overload protection for 120V motor (http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?t=123297) so I opened new one.


Jraef in above mentioned post have mentioned that you can use manual motor starter that has a built-in over load protection (assume that motor doesn't have any built in protection). I wasted many hours but couldn't find "manual motor starter that with a built-in over load protection" for 0.5 HP motor with 4.2A FLA. Does it still exist on a market?

You will have a hard time finding a motor starter that fits that criteria because 99.999999% of the time all you need is a switch for a motor that size.

Are you certain the motor doesn't have built in thermal protection? I can't imagine one that small wouldn't have it. Can you post the nameplate info on it?
