I am wiring a hot tub in a screen porch on the other side of the house from the panel. I fed #8 with a 40 but I could only find a disconnect with a 50 amp GFI breaker. Is amperage a factor on a GFI breaker and will I need to downsize it even tho the circuit is protected at 40?

Since the first breaker is 40 amps you can use a 50 GFCI at the disco.
