I'm trying to install the ceiling fan controller in a metal mud ring and it's is just ever so slightly too big for the opening.
I bet the ceiling fan controller would fit just fine in a plastic box.
Anyone have any idea why the switch manufacture uses these dimensions which don't quite fit the metal mud ring?

My guess is that making it a little bit smaller would have cost a lot more money, possibly using more expensive components or just spending more on the design?
Or their engineer was not told about mud rings. :)
