NEWARK, Ohio -- Two employees at a Central Ohio factory were flown to a local hospital Thursday morning after sustaining electrical shocks and burns.

According to company officials, two Owens Corning employees were working at an electrical substation when the incident occurred, NBC 4's Lauren Diedrich reported.

The Owens Corning factory is located east of Columbus in Newark.

The employees were flown by Med Flight to The Ohio State University Medical Center at about 9 a.m. A company spokesperson said both employees were coherent after being injured.

The spokesman also said the company was working to determine how the workers were shocked.

Meanwhile, an investigator from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was heading to the substation to join the investigation, Diedrich reported.

NBC 4 learned that earlier this year, OSHA documented five citations against the factory ? three of which were considered serious, Diedrich reported.

When asked about the citations, Owens Corning's spokesman said he wasn't aware of any previous incidents, but added the company was committed to safety.

"I don't know about that particular incident you're citing," the spokesman said, "but Corning is committed to safety. Safety is one of our biggest creeds and we have a whole safety protocol and system that's in place."

The company and OSHA said the investigation into the incident would continue.
