currently at the electrical rough-in stage of my hurricane house rebuild, making a list of devices I'll need and came across this on the P&S website.

The sell sheet doesn't mention any specific appliance by name but I'd assume this is meant for freezers/refrigerators. Anyone familiar with it?

Hmmm how does it work? Aren't the problems just because the leakage is too high? How do you avoid nuisance tripping on those without increasing the trip level which would make it not a class A? You're just going to take it out after inspection anyway right? 😉

Something about filtering out leaked frequencies makes a difference.
I recall Mike holt in 2020 video saying one manufacturer uses this technology and his gfci does not trip outdoor compressors.

Yes, these devices filter out the high frequency leakage currents that cause problems with traditional GFCIs. All of the testing required by UL 943 is with 60 hertz power and a resistor to create the fault current. A high frequency filter would not cause any issues in passing the tests required by UL 943.

Since a lot of issues are at start up and involve lower levels of leakage current, at least on manufacturer is putting a 1 second delay on the trip. This will work where the leakage current is below ~18 mA. Above that they cannot have a one second delay and meet the current vs trip time requirements in UL 943.

Good info thanks Don

This won't solve your problems, it will only listen to them.
