why is pennsylvania using 75c as ambient temp for services? i know the lugs on a sq. d main breaker are rated for 75c but nj allows for 90c ambient temp

What do you mean, "nj allows 90C ambient temp"? Are you suggesting that jurisdictions in NJ allows the heating of terminations and equipment beyond its rating or that the 90C rating is permitted to be used for calculation purposes?

Please refer to 110.14(C) for termination temperature limitations. Perhaps the NJ Inspector was unaware of these requirements. Just because an inspector is unaware of or does not enforce a section of the code, that does not make it go away unless the jurisdiction has specifically modified that section of the code.

If someone in New Jersey is permitting the use of 90 degree terminations they are mistaken. We follow the 2005 NEC without any amendments for the use of 90 degree terminations.
