Here in PA, our state is still operating under the 2008 NEC. Seeing how the 2014 code is out and we haven't even adopted the 2011 NEC, I'm wondering if PA may decide to skip the 2011 NEC. We are debating on attending the 2014 code changes seminar but if we won't use the 2014 for years to come, it is almost a waste. However, when we finally do, there may not be any 2014 seminars. Just wondering what everybody else is doing since NEC version adoption does not seem to be as simple as it was years ago. Years ago, we always just went with the most current NEC out there.

I'm in Virginia and we are on 2008. probably won't adopt 2011 till 2014 or 2015. But I will bet we won't skip 2011 and go straight to 2014.

Washington State chose not to adopt the 2011. We did adopt the 2014, and it takes effect this coming July. So we did, in fact, skip 2011 entirely, and will go from 2008 to 2014.

I would expect most would be in the same boat so there would be a need for the classes and where there is a need there is also money to be made.

That being the case instructors would run 2014 classes.

I just went to my CT up date recently nd that was using the 2008 NEC.

Kind of along the lines of what I was going to say. Where there is a need someone will provide. If there is no interest in classes on 2014, nobody will be offering them, at same time if there is demand for 2008 classes someone will offer them.

If it is uncertain what/when future codes will be, many of these people offering classes are probably holding off until they know more before offering new classes. This can also be complicated some by CEU requirements and when they need to be done. If you need credit before end of year (you may have hard time getting into anything this late in the game) you probably have to take what you can get, if you are on some other kind of cycle and still have time, you and many others in your same boat will be waiting to find out what is going to happen before committing to a particular class.

Mike Holt is here in Seattle presenting a class (yesterday and today) on the 2014 NEC. Regrettably, work schedules did not allow me to attend. My concern is that when I do get a chance to attend a similar class, is the presenter going to cover both the changes from 08 to 11 and the changes from 11 to 14? Most of us who needed the continuing education credits did not have a chance to take a 2011 update class, since the state never adopted that edition.
