Only if they are more strict, AFAIK.
And in some cases (e.g. FLA of individual HP-rated motors) the NEC specifically overrides the nameplate information.

Usually such things will come with a manufacturer's nameplate that you would use. It would be rare if the calculation was any different than what the manufacturer stated anyway.
