Pancake boxes.......

I just learned pancake boxes are good for one 14-2 wire only! That came as a surprise. So what is the best method for a light-box that you want right on a stud? I understand you could junction somewhere and run single wires to pancakes but sometimes that does not work either.

Thanks

Is this acceptable? A few of my pancakes have two cables in them, will the inspector let that pass knowing the canopy has room?
If I remember correctly the canopy needs to be marked with the extra volume it provides. I've never seen a canopy that was so marked.

These other boxes posted often work OK, or you could run separate switch legs from the switch to each light box; if that doesn't overcrowd the switch box.
