Panel board Cable Entry

We need to install some panels in chiller pump room. As per site conditions it is not possible to enter the cables from bottom due to congested space , therefore only top entry is possible but our consultant need only bottom entry ,his point is that it is code violation to use top entry panel in pump room since it is wet area..

Kindly advise is really it is a code violation.

I know of no code requirement that would address this question. I think your consultant is wrong. I suggest that you ask them to give a citation of the specific code article that they believe would be violated by a top entry installation.

Yes you are right sir,

Actually this enclosure is IP65. His point is if you make gland at top of the panel, it will not remain water tight.. in case of any leakage water can penetrate through cable entry..

I don’t necessarily believe that a pump room would be considered a wet area, either.
