Hello,
I work for a company that certifies electrical enclosures and control panels for the United States and Canada. (NITW & NITW7)
My question concerns panels destined for Canada. There has recently been an update: Canadian panels now fall under CSA C22.2 No. 286 rather than CSA C22.2 No. 14.

From the documentation we received from UL, I understand that CSA C22.2 No. 286 is aligned with UL 508A (with a few adjustments such as labeling requirements).

My question is: how do you handle the design review for panels intended for Canada?
Do you work only with the UL 508A standard, or do you still need to check the requirements directly in CSA C22.2 No. 286?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

If your 508 panel shop has expanded your offering to provide the “cULus” labeling, it should be automatically updated in your 508 procedure requirements. My shop added that listing capability way back when this option became available, it was first available.

Thank you very much for your reply.
Yes, that’s correct—we can certify cULus, but we received a letter from UL informing us that Canadian standards are being harmonized with U.S. standards and that the reference standard is no longer C22.2 No. 14 but C22.2 No. 286.
My question is: when you build a cULus-certified enclosure, is it still necessary to check the Canadian standard(s), or is the enclosure certified according to UL 508A with only a few adaptations such as bilingual French/English labels?
