If a panel is not right inside behind a meter socket is there a code requirments to put the disconnecting mean for the panel at the Meter socket? Say the panel is 20 to 30 feet away from the Meter socket

Local AHJ decides on ''nearest'' . Most won't allow that length you are proposing. I wouldn't if I were an AHJ.

My gentrification has me considering it however.........

Dude, we already answered this in your other thread- and as said there, there is no exact req per the NEC, just that "svc disconnecting means shall be installed at a readily accessible location either outside of a building or structure or inside nearest the point of entrance of the service conductors" per 230.70(a)(1)- any extra length/set rule is up to your ahj.

Come on ! This is a professional forum , you don't reply with name calling!

"Dude" is namecalling?

No offense was intended toward the op- only used "dude" as a preface at the beginning of a friendly reminder that his question had already been answered in his other thread about essentially the same issue.:)

As for the "professional" aspect- his query was answered by a few members with the correct info/interpretation from the latest edition of the NEC.

Most cases it is how far service conductor penetrate inside the building before hitting overcurrent protection that matters, exact distance allowed varies by jurisdiction. If you ran the line from the meter on the exterior of the building there usually is no limit on distance, you could possibly wrap the house five times or even a hundred times with service cable but once you enter the building you will be limited by local rules on what distance they allow inside.

Huh??

What in Gods holy name are you blathering about!!!???:p

One of my favorite movies of all time. Some coworkers and I have just started bowling; of course, we drink White Russians and quote The Dude.
