Wondering where in the code it covers running feeder wires thru one panel to another.

I just started with another company and working on a retaurant job that is a mess! There are 3 panels, a 400a that feed 2 200a panels, but one of the feeders run thru the middle panel to the end one, is this acceptable?

Yes it is OK. Imagine this situation: Multi story building with electrical closets

on top of each other on each floor. Use a feed thru panel with lugs on the

bottom & lugs on the top. Feed in feed out.

If you are on the 2011 code, new wording in 312.8(3)requires a label telling you the location of the nearest disconnect for any conductors that pass through a panel.
