I am on a job wiring a maintenance building which has 2 garage areas where vehicles will be worked on and gasoline/other chemicals will be stored.
The inspector is calling this area a Class 1 Division 2 area. He requestd that receptacles we mounted at 15" to bottom be raised to above the 18" required zone that is classified.
We also have 2 panelboards that are so tall that we had to mount them about 12" off the floor, so about 6" of panel is in the 18" from floor zone. Te inspector didn't say anything about the panels. What should we do to make this situation code compliant (gasketed panel cover?) or is the panel considered safe if part of it is in this 18" from the floor zone?
